Reliable automatic do-it-yourself UPS
I use this as a backup power source for my pellet stove. If the power goes out when the stove is on, you get a smoky mess since it relies on a fan for combustion and exhaust. I chose to go the APC route instead of the stove-branded unit - I feel more comfortable with a company that knows this business well. I could not be happier with it - fast switching, charges the battery fast after the outage too. Ultimately simple as well - the switch is either off, or automatic or charge-only. Set it and forget it!
Excellent for DIY power system
I have an off-road trailer that I use for research. I purchased the APS750 and coupled it with a 105 AH AGM battery in the nose box of the trailer. Away from mains power, it provides excellent run time for several laptops and communications equipment. I keep the battery charged with solar panels off-road and take advantage of the 20A charging capacity of the APS750 when mains power is available. It's a 750W sine wave inverter, transfer switch, and battery charger in a rugged package - perfect for my needs. I highly recommend the APS750 for mobile applications where high quality and reliable power is important. I can see where it might make a good emergency power system too.[Edit Sept. 21, 2011: In my original review I stated that the Tripp Lite APS750 was a pure sine wave inverter. I removed that statement from my review as I learned through investigation that the output is pure sine wave when running on mains power (as expected) and PWM (pulse width modulated) sine wave...
King of UPS's
Here in South Florida, we have what would be described as unpredictable weather... which leads to unpredictable power ;-). Since I work at home on the computer, I need to be able to work through our unexpected power outtages which can last several hours at a time. My UPS just wouldn't cut it for power outtages lasting more than an hour or so.Enter the king of UPS's, the APS 750! I bought a marine battery at Walmart for under $70 and connected it to the unit. Just the one battery gives me about 5 to 6 hours of run-time for both my desktop and my LCD monitor. If I need more run-time, I can simply connect more batteries in parallel.Like a regular UPS, the unit charges when it has power, and switches to battery during a surge or blackout. Though the transfer time is a bit higher than a typical UPS, it doesn't seem to matter.

good! best bang for the buck!
Bought this off Amazon a month or two ago. I was looking for an inexpensive pure sine wave inverter to replace my Duracell (Xantrex) modified sine wave inverter. I was expecting to have issues from the get go (due to the cheap price!) but this inverter is working out quite nicely. I have it hooked up to 4 Trojan T-105 batteries which is charged up with an 85 watt Kyocera solar panel and Xantrex C35 charge controller.Being pure sine wave, I can run anything now that my old modified sine couldn't. No more annoying buzzing sounds from CFL's or TV's. certain appliances that wouldn't power up on the old inverter now work flawlessly. Some things I run on the Sunforce: Samsung 22" LCD TV, CFL's of all sizes, Playstation 2, battery chargers, laptops, electric cooler.I haven't tripped the over current protection yet at all, not even when using items that typically surge, such as a large power drill. No fan issues like the other review mentioned.. in fact I...
Not working reliably
I bought the inverter to use in an RV to power lights, TV/DVD, and other light AC loads. The price on this unit is very attractive so I bought it and checked it out before installing. I tested it under light and maximum loads and even hooked it up to an oscilloscope to verify if it was really a sine wave output. The last thing I did was bring it in the house to power the TV, stereo, computer, DVD, and VHS player simultaneously. (This is still well under 1000W.)Conclusions:(1) Powers all loads I've thrown at it without a problem (except see #4# including electronics, 1000W electric heater, fluorescent and incandescent lights, and an electric drill.#2# Has a real sine wave output.#3# Causes considerable interference to AM radio when used to power the stereo system, but absolutely no interference on the TV or FM radio or anything else.Strangely, the TV guide function on the cable box stopped operating, but I can't be sure if the inverter caused...
NOT a full 1000W but close enough
I have several 1000W inverters in my service trucks and thought the idea of a RF remote would be nice so I stepped away from my usual brand (Xantrex) and their newer, more value conscious true sine inverter product line which is within $20 of this sunforce unit but lacks the features. This time I bought the sunforce.First off, testing finished inverter installations, I use a 1050W load (it's a heat gun with 1000W heater and 50w blower). True, this is MORE than 1000W but all inverters have some surge capacity so it's never been a problem before. The sunforce unit's efficiency is within 1% of xantrex, requiring 114-116 AMPS at 12VDC to operate the 1050W load, however the sunforce will shutdown within 3 seconds with an output overload condition, while the xantrex units...

Good inverter at a very decent price
I purchased this inverter to replace a Sinergex Pure Sine 600 unit that failed after 5 years on my boat which is used to provide power to the entertainment system and TV.Compared to other similar pure sine wave inverters the ProWatt SW600 is a great buy. Easily half the price of a replacement Sinergex and other similar units. For my application, it had to be installed in concealed location. The SW600 was slightly larger than the Sinergex unit it was replacing but not by much and it fit nicely in the same space that the Sinergex unit was in.The unit works great, provides clean power to the entertainment system and TV. It hums a bit when running but not enough to be annoying in a quiet cabin. If you are mounting this unit to a wood panel you may want to use rubber isolation to minimize the amplification of the hum through the wood panel. My only complaint isn't so much with this unit as with the most recent 'safety' requirements that in...
Great sine wave inverter!
I've had this inverter for about two weeks and I really like it; and I'm doubly impressed for the price point. I've lived off grid for 15 years and needed a sine wave inverter to run some equipment that wouldn't run off my workhorse Trace modified sine wave. I haven't metered the output but it's running my touchy electronics continously without any problems, it's very quiet (I actually have it mounted on the wall in my bedroom) and it doesn't draw much power when it isn't being used. I like it so much that I'm considering replacing my primary inverter with the next larger Prowatt from this one. The built in voltmeter is a great extra as is the usb port for charging electronics. The battery connections on the back are large and easy access; the over current shutdown automatically resets itself when the batteries drop to an acceptable level (I accidently had it turned on while equalizing).
Good, cheap True Sinewave inverter
I bought this elsewhere. This is by far the lowest cost True Sinewave inverter I have ever seen. I don't have an Oscilloscope at home to verify the wave form but trust the manufacturers listed specs, which specify True Sinewave.True Sinewave(close the real thing that comes out of the wall) not "Pure Sinewave", which is just a modified square wave without noise spikes.I bought this to run my Harman Pellet stove off of battery backup in the event of a power outage without fuel for my portable gas generator. I bought a True Sinewave inverter because I don't want to risk damaging my 3300 dollar stove by using a "Modified Sinewave" inverter, or more accurately a Modified Square wave inverter, which is the cheap standard in electrical power inverters.Modified Sinewave is the types of inverters in UPS and most inverters sold today. Read the warning that says it could damage variable speed motors and such.True Sinewave inverters like this...
