Great Stove
This is a great stove .I have had this stove for 3 burning seasons now,I run this stove on low,and itheats my whole house to 70 degree's.My house is 1150 square feet.If i run it for 23 hours straighton low it uses 1 bag of pellets.Only problem i have had with this stove is the auto starter burnedout 1 time, while still under warranty,There was no problem getting a new one, under warranty.easy todeal with customer service. They did not question anything i said, sent me one in 3 days . I hadto install it my self ,but was real easy to do.and it did not void the rest of my warranty.
Very happy
I have owned this stove (5510) for one year. It's installed in my living room, which is in the middle of my house. Last winter, it kept the bulk of my house 65-75, but we had to use space heaters in the bedrooms at night. Last year, we burned 3.5 tons of pellets, for a total operating cost of about $1000 (including space heaters), which is maybe a third of what I spent in past years on propane. General operation and cleaning is easy, but the original igniter went bad after a few months (replaced under warranty). Also, I recently noticed that the glass gasket in the door is in bad shape, so I called the company and they sent out a new one, also under warranty. Customer service has been excellent so far. I am very happy with my purchase.
Low qaulity
If the stove would keep working it would be great but it keeps breaking. I bought the stove in August and by December the ignighter was bad. Us Stove did warranty the ignighter once. But now in the second season the ignighter is bad again and also the auger moter is bad. Of course now it's been over a year for the warranty. Since the heating season is about 6 months here in Michigan that is what time you get to operate the unit under the warranty. Us Stove directs you to use their web site for parts but their it says auger moter out of stock for a month. I would not buy a Us Stove again! Look else were for a different brand.

Fire Hazard Warning on King 5500m
I feel obligated to post this warning about a serious fire hazard I found on my new King 5500M pellet stove. For a little background I have been battling this stoves burn since I got it in Oct 2011. After several calls they sent me replacement gaskets which I installed and through a forum I found what is likely to be the real problem the feed rate... If you have a problem with the burn pot filling up manually adjust the feed rate(something never mentioned by the manufacturer after a dozen calls). So I change the gaskets and adjust the feed rate last night and the stove runs pretty good, shut it down today and I notice smoke coming out of the bottom of the stove so I look and find piles of ash on both of the front corners of the stove, the side that has smoke pouring out also has a few half burnt pellets... thinking wtf did the stove crack? I vacuum the stove out for a better look to find 2 perfectly drilled holes right through the bottom of the stove. Call the company again...
Nice stove, takes some time to learn
I bought this stove through Amazon and it was delivered promptly. I hired someone with experience to install it and the installation only took a few hours. The stove starts fine but burned "dirty" - the burn pot was filled with soot and pellets after a few hours and the glass was blackened. I shut the stove off, cleaned it out and re-started but the same thing happened. I called customer service and the support person instructed me to adjust the auger rate. When I fired up the stove the first time, I had left it at the factory setting per the manual but she said that the remedy for my issue would be to adjust the rate down and she guided me through that. This was on a Friday evening. The unit burned okay for the weekend but the burn pot still overfilled and the flame was "lazy". I called customer service again and the support person had me adjust the draft fan down. This seems to have fixed the problem.I've read elsewhere that US Stove needs to do a...

Disappointed in USSC 80481 Ignitor Cartridge
In less than a year the ignitor stopped working. The Ignitor was covered under the 1 year warranty period. I contacted the seller of the stove (a 5500M King/Ashley Pellet Stove from TSC-Tractor Supply Company) in Oroville, California for the name of anyone doing repairs. The "manager" could not or would not provide any assistance and I felt I had truly bothered him by requesting help on this issue. Not a repair person's name or any courtesy for a customer with a problem with one of their sales. I called United States Stove Company regarding the King/Ashley Pellet Stove problem. They were very courteous and because the stove was less than 1 year old, they would send an ignitor under the warranty. Due to the cold shoulder from TSR, I decided to replace the ignitor myself, which was not a difficult process. The stove was purchased at the end of 2010, and within a month of starting the 2011 fall, the ignitor failed. Replaced the new ignitor, and it has operated for the past 4-5...
Poor Quality
Purchased in January of this year, already needs replaced, the dealer's price is actually lower at this time, did not thinkk about checking for a warranty when i ordered in January

happy homemaker Monday

Source: a collection of days

Tuesday nights I watch NCIS, Wednesday night it’s American Idol (for a few more weeks) and Thursday nights, curiously enough, I watch Gray’s Anatomy. Monday nights I don’t watch to  much TV. I will end up reading instead. I normally work about 16 hours a week but I am working a double today because my boss is donating his bone marrow and will be at the hospital for much of the day. I don’t like to watch them get voted off of American Idol so I wait morning and ask the first person I see. So, I think we will be eating the leftover sausage tomato sauce and pasta from Saturday night. I may even go all out and make up a quick polenta to go with it. I have been on a roll cleaning out cupboards and...
