Great book on carpet installationI work for a property management firm. We just started doing out carpet in house. I searched for installation training as was unable to find any. I even went to many different flooring tool suppliers and I was still unable to come up with any references on the subject. This book is an invaluable training aid for new installers. A follow up video would be great.
Good data - Horrible editing
This is a good book on how to lay carpet. The carpet on my stairs was wearing out and I wanted to replace it myself from extra carpet I had from the original installation. Eric Larson's book gave me the information to do the job.I read the rest of the book and, although I did not use the data, the information seemed complete and the instructions were generally clear. It's clear that Eric wrote the book for apprentice carpet installers and I applaud his textbook-like approach with the questions and answers after each chapter. Based on the information contained and the approach used to teach it, I would give the book four to four and a half stars. My complaint is about the editing, which is attributed to Dr. William G. Burns of San Antonio. The English used in the book is atrocious. Sentences and clauses run together without any punctuation, sort of the way someone would speak in informal speech. Many of the sentences are just fragments, either without a verb or without a...
Never seen carpet installed but want to do it yourself anyway? Get this book.
This book is thorough enough to teach you, on it's own, how to install stretch-in carpet in your home. I used it to learn what I needed to know to install stretch-in carpet in a basement bedroom with a concrete floor and on my bullnose staircase. Its the only comprehensive carpet installation reference I could find, but luckily, it was all I needed.As others have noted, it is riddled with misspelling and covers lots of information a DIY carpet installer doesn't need-- like how to dress and how to handle customers. None of that bothered me since it did a fine job teaching me what I wanted to learn.

Carpet ConfusionI had been shopping for carpet for weeks and because of all the confusion created by various sales people I was unable to determine who really had the best deal for me. Couldn't put the book down
This book is a succinct guide about the rights and wrongs for buying carpet, clarifying much of the misleading information out there. I didn't know a thing about carpet a few days ago. Now I realize the mistakes I made selecting my existing carpet, and what to buy next time.Ten bucks on the kindle is a small price to pay compared to the regret of spending thousands of dollars on the wrong carpet and pad.

When it comes to buying carpeting, most definitely, knowledge is power. Not having the need to purchase carpeting for a number of years, when it came time to re-carpet our home, we were over-whelmed with the numerous types and grades of carpets, that are available, within the stores. doing its jobI was concerned about reviews, so I got it bigger than my carpet. When we recieved it I just cut it down to less than a quarter inch than my carpet size and placed it under. It has been a couple of weeks now and my carpet doesnt move!My carpet is on wooden flooring. :)
Doesn't work on carpet
In the product description it says that it works to keep area rugs from slipping even on top of carpeted surfaces. This is not true. It does not work at all to keep my area rug in the right spot on top of my wall to wall carpeting. It may work on other surfaces, but it does not work on carpet.
Works exactly as advertised
For the price, this is a no-brainer. We just bought some new area rugs, and found them slip-sliding all over the hardwood floors whenever the dog would get the idea to pounce at a ball/stuffed animal/owner. After looking at a few options at the store for $50 or more, I figured to give this item a shot - and it works great! It took two people to get it set down right where we wanted it, and two people to put the rug gently on top, but now that it's there, it's not moving anywhere, no matter what the silly dog does.Overall, a great value, and performs just as well as the $50+ versions at the store. If you want your rug to stay put, buy it.

Surprisingly Awesome Subs!I was somewhat skeptical about this brand, but now have no regrets. I have them in a 1997 Camry with a Rockford Fosgate t500, 4 gauge wiring, after market HU, stock door & rear speakers. There is another listing for the MTX subs together with an amp that I almost considered. Glad I listened to other reviewers and just got these subs-the amp in the combo package is nowhere near enough to push these things. Even the pros at the car audio shop I went to said the same thing. To give an example of how great they sound: After the install I went to see my husband at work to let him hear them. His coworker came out of the building and asked "What's with all the noise?". I now need Dynamat, because I don't want to be one of those trunk-rattlers. Plus I can tell that the spoiler will eventually come off if I don't soundproof. Yeah, it's pretty substantial bass! I say get these subs, but don't skimp on the amp.
