Great Entry Level Under-Sink FilterI just wanted something that would take the chlorine taste out of my tap water. This thing works great. It only hooks up to cold water which is perfect for filtering drinking water. Installation was fairly easy. When I first hooked it up, water was squirting out of all the connectors. I didn't realize that you have to push harder on them when you insert them. You have to feel it pop into the connector. You may have to buy some tubing because it only comes with a foot and a half. But that stuff is cheap to get at a hardware store (make sure its for potable water). But once this was hooked up and mounted it has worked like a charm and with zero leaks. Even the basic filter it comes with (D-20) tastes great. I do recommend getting replacement cartridges (D-30) because its supposed to filter out much more little nasties that you might not necessarily taste. Getting replacement filters is very easy, I've even seen store brand filters that are compatible with this filter housing. I really...
Great Deal
I liked the idea of saving money spent on pitcher water filters. I bought this filter along with the Amazon recommended Watts faucet since customers complained about the other Culligan complete kit using a plastic faucet which breaks easily. This kit comes with a D20 filter, couple feet of 3/8" hose, two 3/8" 90 elbow quick-connects, and screws to mount to inside of cabinet. If you plan on using this to filter all cold water from your faucet I recommend going to the hardware store to buy some brass compression fittings to adapt over to the 3/8" plastic tubing and then back again after the filter. It seems too many people are trying to get the quick-connect fittings to grip their copper pipe or tubing. In all honesty, I would not expect the quick-connect teeth to hold onto copper with high water pressure. unpaid helperA friend loaned to me his T-Jak to use when I install cabinets. I used to put a cleat on the wall first, leaving holes from screws after removing. Since I started using the T-Jak, I've been able to install 3 to 4 more cabinets per day, It's like having a helper, and not having to pay him. I install the bases first, then the uppers. If during installation, it turns out that I have to raise or lower the cabinet, it's just a simple turn of the screw to move it up or down. My only complaint is that the base of the T-Jak is a bit small and is prone to tipping, but I remidied that by attaching a 12" x 18" piece of plywood to the bottom for added stability. If you install cabinets on a regular basis, you should buy this tool!
What a Great Idea
Too bad the manufactures of this tool never got past the hardware store component prototype version. Buy it if you must, it does work well, but you could easily replicate this thing almost perfectly with parts from your local hardware store. When my order arrived, I felt as though I had just been hoodwinked. I originally ordered both the tall and short versions and all of the extensions, but after realizing what they were, I kept the Mini-Brut and returned everything else and got the extensions at the hardware store for relatively little cost.
Paid for itself on first use
I am a contractor and can tell you to rest assured that you will not regret this purchase. I ordered this mini brute along with the taller version and will be leaving the same review for both. Working alone installing cabinets or even the above range top microwaves becomes an accurate "snap" with this product. As you are doing now, I read all the reviews and must admit that some made me wonder why the opinions could vary so much. Some had even mentioned how they could build these themselves with parts from Home Depot. Don't waste your time wondering. You'd be wasting your time running around trying to duplicate it. The "slip" nut is really innovative and ingenious. If you do purchase the taller one too, be sure to look into the "drywall" version because it includes a two foot extension at the same cost of the non "drywall" version. The only thing missing with this tool is a good carrying case of some sort. The other thing I will mention to you about these T-Jak tools is to be careful...

Great tasting water and affordableAfter 11 months of service the plastic stem of the faucet broke and flooded my kitchen cabinet and the basement wall. I have yet to see the warranty response, however I highly recommend a Watts Premier Chrome Non Air-Gap Faucet to install from the start. Otherwise, filters are cheap, the water quality is good. But Culligan going for a one or two dollar saving using plastic faucet part under strain vs. the liability of flooding a house demonstrates very bad judgment from Culligan.
Flooded my kitchen
We bought this after wanting to get away from bottled water which is expensive and not environmentally friendly. Unfortunately, the local water is less than desirable (terrible taste). The reviews here tell the tale already - it's easy to install and it's also easy to change out filters (and you can choose the one you want as you see there are many levels of filters for the system). Again, the system was easy to install but the fixture is horrible. It's plastic so while trying to install on the sink area the base of the plastic broke from the fixture itself. Not cool. To improvise I put it back together with super glue but this is obviously not recommended - I did it because I didn't want to undo what I already started. I've already replaced it with a Watts fixture which is cheap but is all metal and it's working much better and I'm not worrying about someone with heavy hands breaking it off and having water going everywhere. Great Looking-Very well packaged, lots of styrofoam. -Item requires complete assembly! Instructions were clear most of the time. There were a couple instances were instructions weren't obvious and had to be thought through. -Main area measures (roughly) 15.5" x 15.5" -The 3 cubbyholes measure (roughly) 5"wide x 5.5" tall. -A second shelf would have been nice, but not a big deal for me. I am considering buying another for my second bath.
Nice quality matching pieces
We bought this as a spice rack fora cottage kitchen, even though we know it's a medicine cabinet. We expected it to be larger, and it would have been better with two shelves inside except one. Would also have been nice if we could have changed the direction the door swings - you can only put it on one way. That said, it's a great cabinet and we like it very much. It's sturdy, well-constructed, with nice details, moldings and style. We purchased two other matching items and were very pleased with them as well.
Best "some assembly required" project ever
I have assembled many kits from instructions that are impossibly bad (non-english or illogical with missing parts or a picture with no relationship to the project at hand), but this one is beautiful. The parts are all labelled A-H, the screws and dowels are packaged separately in numbered sets from 1-14. The diagrams refer to the parts by letter and number and are sequenced logically and without too much in any one diagram. The packaging is annoying styrofoam, but everything did arrive in perfect condition... even if the little bits seem to stick to you for life. The instructions are almost entirely visual. Excellent diagrams. If you are at first a bit confused, just keep looking and all is revealed. No power tools required until wall-mounting. Would like to choose the way the door opens, but no demerits for this as there are no holes to fill on the unused side. Beautiful kit with a very nice product when assembled.

We recently had our kitchen designed at Home Depot--cabinets, countertops, etc. Now I'm hearing their merchandise is of a lower quality. My question is this--if I'm actually getting my cabinets, etc from another manufacturer (say, Kraftmaid) but buying
I have personally installed about 30 kitchens and have this opinion about Home Depot designers....not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
They have little concept of tight spaces. An example is not considering the dishwasher swing in a corner

small circirclar spongy cushion is in with each non self-closing hinge. What is it for?
thank you all, but there is only one per hinge and there is a magnetic closer for each door, so it is not to cushion banging of door. Any other ideas??
You put those cushions on the inside corners of the side away from the hinge. When the door slams it doesn't make a loud bam noise, just a soft cushioned sound.

I don't know how many times I visited Lowes, Home Depot, and other appliances store. Then, we thought that our living room and dining room needed a remodeling. Actually, the remodeled kitchen was finished back in January 2010. Welcome to my remodeled kitchen. Then, we thought our downstairs bathroom also needed a remodeling. Then, we thought that our bedrooms and master bathroom really needed a remodeling (wall paper and paint were peeling). We started with one room and it just went on and on to the next rooms. I know, I know. It was in the 1970s style and we didn't do any remodeling since we moved in (1993). Then, we thought our 1970s carpet desperately needed to be replaced. There you go.
