Panasonic Produces Another Quality Ventilation Fan
The Panasonic FV-11VQ5 is the newest release from Panasonic in the WhisperCeiling series of ventilation fans. Panasonic discontinued the .8 Sone, 110 CFM, FV-11VQ3 for this next-generation, enhanced version. It is essentially the same model with some minor variations, the most noticeable being a reduction in operational sound level from .8 Sone to .3 Sone. The power consumption between the two units has also been reduced from 30.7W to 21.1W (at .1 static pressure), which drops the Amperage from .26 to .18, making this unit more efficient. The FV-11VQ5 is relatively large, but a fantastic performer for the money. The rough-in cut required to mount the unit is 10-1/2" x 10-1/2". The outside grill is 13" x 13". A cardboard template is supplied to assist in drawing the physical layout of the rough-in cut on the ceiling. This greatly enhanced the ease of installation. Opening the unit, there's little that needs to be done other than remove the tape from the internal...
Its big and quiet.
I bought this for $119.99 to replace my old bathroom fan that wasn't working. I am a novice on installing something like this or doing any construction work. I don't know how its possible for anyone to install this fan from below. I have an attic and I installed the fan from there. It was not easy for me to install it. First, I had to make a hole bigger. Being an amateur at cutting hole, I made the hole a little bit too big. The instructions show 3 ways you can install the fan. I choose the first way where you use the support bracket and install 2 screws from the bottom. The second way uses 1 and 1/2 support bracket, meaning there's a long piece in the back and half a piece in the front (where the exhaust and power box is located). It seems impossible to install using the second installation instruction unless you have a big space between the joist. The third way is for small space between the joist and you are able to screw the fan from the bottom on both sides of the fan...
Excellent Quality
Once I opened the box, the superior quality of this vent over what I was used to from Broan/NuTone was readily apparent. The squirrel-cage fan is much more robust and has a much more solid feel when you spin it by hand. The smoothness of the motor is nothing like that of a Broan/NuTone vent. In 11 years that we have lived in our current house, I have replaced the NuTone vent in out master bath twice. I expect this Panasonic unit to last 20 years. I have been amazed at how the level of quality in Broan/NuTone units has dropped. My parents have two Broan ceiling mount fan forced heaters in their bathrooms. They were installed when the house was built 50 years ago. They still work perfectly and quietly. The new products from Broan/NuTone simply do not last.

Perfect fan, Perfect price!
I like this fan because it blends in with the ceiling and doesn't look like a big ugly ceiling fan with stupid looking ugly lights on it. No "fake" wooden blades. No ugly brass. It's about as "simple" as you can get, quiet as it could possibly be, and inexpensive. It is my opinion that ceiling fans should be "felt" and not seen or heard! We put this in a guest bedroom and it replaced a hideous looking LOUD "Hampton Bay" from Home Depot that was quite frankly shameful. lol My husband did not understand why I chose no lights on it until it was installed and he could see how much nicer the room looked just with lamp lighting and no ugly fan lights.
Moves air - quietly
Replaced an older fan which was noisy and didn't move much air unless set to the highest speed (where it added vibration to the noise). The new Hunter is silent (all you can hear is the blades moving the air) and is totally vibration free without installing the balancing kit.
Attractive and functional
We bought two of these for our office and they are simply attractive, run so quietly we forget it's on, and move the air quite well on three speeds. Although not mentioned anywhere in the literature, they are wired to accept a light kit. We purchased a Hunter light kit for one of the fans, and it works perfectly.

I love the fan but not happy with Amazon.
I love the fan but I'm not happy with Amazon. I thought I was getting a good deal on this gorgeous and unique fan until I saw the same fan at a local Menards (Hardware and home-improvement store) in Indianapolis for $74 less. Since I'm supposed to be reviewing the product and not my purchase experience from Amazon... I'll continue. I bought the fan to hang outside under a pergola. So, it was important that the fan is rated for wet locations and this fan is just that. In addition, it is more powerful that I thought and quiet. The sails are different and nice looking. Overall, I'll give the fan 10 out of 10!
unique and quiet
I have had the Hunter Sanibel ceiling fan for a couple months. It is uniquely beautiful. I have had to make many purchase decisions during our home remodel, and the decision to purchase this beautiful fan is one of the best decisions I have made. It hangs at the top of a high stairwell and it was not an easy place to install a fan. It is very quiet, has 3 speeds and the cloth sail cloth blades fit in with my coastal beach house. I did go to home depot and purchase a remote control to operate the fan and light, at a cost of almost $50.00. I also purchased a 12inch extending rod so that it hung lower from the vaulted ceiling I have. It is fairly easy to assemble. Hire a pro to install it.
Trouble with balancing......fixed fast
Nice fan, but it does not balance like others with the weighted tape. Does fine on low and medium, but wobbles on high. Have written Hunter for a solution to this problem. Update: Wow....Hunter was quick to solve the problem and sent new "balanced" blades which solved the problem. Dealing with companies such as this is worth the money. Great company; great fan. Bought a second one for a rental, and it works just great. Allow some time to install. It's not really simple, and be sure to have a magnetic phillips and screwdriver for small screws in tight places. Love the design, and it's rock solid.

Good fan but uses none-standard light bulbs
We bought this type of fans more than 2 years ago from OSH. We like the look, the cost and how it works (very quiet and stable, also flush mountable). you get the best bang of your money. A month ago, we bought another one from Amazon.com. In the product description it states using "standard-base light bulbs". After opening the package, we found that it uses candelabra based light bulbs. For this, we returned it to Amazon.com because we'd like to use more generic products for easy light bulb replacement. After talking to several sales persons and electricians at local Home Depot stores, I found all new ceiling fans have changed light bulbs to either candelabra base or Intermediate base (or E-17 Intermediate) in recent years in order to bypass an energy saving requirement imposed on Standard Medium Base light bulbs. At this time, there is no specific energy-saving requirement on the candelabra or Intermediate base light bulbs. The downside of using none-standard...
exactly what it says it is
it's extremely light, great for low ceilings and/or apartments - and spins quietly but with strength! my boyfriend [who is a contractor] installed it, but said it was very easy to hook up and to make flush with the ceiling, avoiding almost any shakiness! it does feel somewhat flimsy so i'll update this review after a year or so, but after nonstop high spinning during 3 steamy hot nyc summer months, i love this thing! for $50 and amazon's free shipping, YOU CANNOT BEAT IT july, 2009 UPDATE still running the fan basically day and night, reversing the direction in the winter to blow upward - and using the light function for at least a couple of hours/day - and it is working smoothly and consistently, with no shakiness or loss of strength. the wood panels haven't faded, the brass hasn't tarnished, and i am hardly as consistent about keeping it clean as i am about keeping it on! one of the best home purchases i've made.
WARNING
Warning: Product is not as advertised. Item description clearly states "Recommended Bulbs: Use (4) Standard Base Fan Lamps, 60 Watt Maximum." In fact the product uses Candelabra base bulbs.

Best ceiling fan at ANY price
After a month of 24/7 use, I now have some experience. By far the best ceiling fan at any price. At $55, it moves more air and looks more contemporary & sleeker than any $500 designer fan. Same fan as the brushed nickel model so read those reviews as well. Set to the lowest speed, it moves as much air as some residential fans move at their highest speed. I have it mounted above my bed. On the highest speed, it moves so much air it blows the Sunday paper apart & off the bed. Standard installation will lower the fan blades almost 2 ft so if you have 8ft ceilings, it's too dangerous for residential installation. The blades are metal, move at an incredible speed & could probably slice a tomato. You do not want them clipping your hand. BUT ... the down rod can easily be cut in half (with only modification being to drill a new cross mounting hole in the rod, keeping the blades safely above 7ft. Have never had to sleep with the fan set to "high" but the dogs love...
Great Product Great Service
We looked all over for a product like this to put in our stalls for our mini horse & donkey. It is just what we needed and the price, sevice and delivery was fantastic.

Best Bathroom Ceiling Exhaust Fan (quiet/Home Depot?)?

Oct 20, 2007 by cherry-o | Posted in Other - Home & Garden

Does anyone have a suggestion for the best bathroom exhaust fan? I have a Home Depot close to home and would like to find it there or at Loews. Looking for something nice looking and quiet, but powerful. Going to be installed in the ceiling and probably

Quietness is described in "sones". Look on the unit or box and find the one with the lowest number of sones. Panasonic makes exhaust fans with a "1" sone rating. CFM's is the speed and power of the fan.

where is the best place to buy a ceiling fan as far as best selection and also maybe price? how do home depot?

Sep 25, 2006 by Mark | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

and lowes compare with ceiling fans? anyone else carry them like sears, etc?

For cheapest price, Home Depot or Lowes. For best selection and higher prices, go to a lighting/fan specialty store.

Casablanca 83U11D Four Seasons III Outsider Ceiling Fan, Snow White Review

Source: Minka Aire Ceiling Fans

One controls fan speed (off, low, medium, high). The 83U11D fan comes with two pull chain switches. The screws and other hardware are stainless steel and the fan blades are white ABS plastic with an embossed wood-grain. Although suitable for an outdoor (damp) installation, this fan can be mounted inside, which is what we did. There are no openings on the top of the fan motor, which presumably means it could withstand some amount of direct rain. Inexpensive lamp-chain extensions are typically available at Lowes, Home Depot, or any hardware store, in their lamp department. The optional K4K-11 lamp, which requires candelabra bulbs, adds a pull chain & switch for the lamp....
