Bissell Proheat 2x Select Pet Did a very good job
Hi.We bought this model at a local retail store last weekend. I had used a different model of the same brand previously (borrowed from in-laws). I have used it once, on my entire living room--a cream colored cheap wall-to-wall carpet laid down about 3 years ago by the previous owners. Probably artificial fibers. Just saying. The carpet was getting spotty. We have a cat who has hairballs regularly and two four-year-olds. The cream colored carpet was showing spots around the kids computer, both couches, and the high-traffic areas at each doorway. We had some washable-marker marks here and there, and one sticky place. We live in the south so we had red clay marks, too.I assembled the machine--had to get a long, thin screwdriver from the garage because the kind with the changeable tips is too fat for the holes in the upper handle. Assembly was easy, but I was left with an extra wand that had no home. Ours came with a small, medium, and large unpowered...
Very Good - Met Expectations!
My wife and I have two dogs, a 2 year old child and the cheap white/beige colored carpet that I'm sure everyone has seen before. It came with our house when we bought it. We have been living here for 3 years and you don't realize how dirty your carpets actually get until you clean them. It came to a point where I could not stand to be in my house because the carpets got so bad. As if the dogs weren't enough, my daughter spilled liquid bubbles everywhere and dirt attaches to the fluid like a magnet. We bought this bissell a week ago and finally finished using it this past weekend. I'm very happy with the results. My carpet looks A LOT better!!Pros:- It is very easy to use after you understand how to use it.- If you compare, side by side, the section you cleaned next to an area you didn't get to yet you will notice that it does a really good job.- The carpets barely get wet and dry incredibly fast for that reason.Cons:- You really need to...
Sprayer Will Breakdown - Bissell Service Awful
I've owned three of these Bissell models over the past four years. The first (2006) lasted nearly 18 months and about as many carpet cleanings. Eventually the spray system broke. Since it was out of warranty it was not worth getting fixed. The second (2008) lasted 13 months. Same story, the spray system broke. The third, this year, last 4 months and 3 carpet cleanings. Under warranty I called Bissell, got the names of two service centers but when I called them they both told me the same thing: Bissell was not going to warrant the spray system unless it was a manufacturer's defect.Being prudent, I called Bissell and went through a 30 trouble shooting session over the phone. It was grueling. Check this gasket, that gasket, take out the spray nozzles, get an old toothbrush and clean the sprayer, try the hose, re-seat the water tank, re-seat the soap tank, try the hose again, chew some gum, run the machine for a minute, walk on the...

Why Pay More?
Bissell has proven itself the leader in carpet cleaning systems for years. So I ran out to rent a carpet cleaner which we needed immediately due to a monster spill. All the rentals were rented out! + It costs $$ to rent. + And who knows whats left over in those machines. So I made the decision to buy one to have in just such an emergency. Great decision. Why buy an expensive Bissell for over $250 when this 1622 Powerlifter Powerbrush can do everything they can. It's got the brushes it's got the power. The only real difference between those models is that they heat up the water for you. Well can't you just pour hot water into the resevoir? Yes you can. And away we go.I made this wise economic puchase some months ago. This machine has proven itself reliable strong and able time after time. The ultimate weapon for all sorts of messes.. . . . .. And yes it cleans alot better that the store rental units.Oh and by the way we did try that little...
very pleased
I rely on this little cleaner to keep up with pet stains. I could not be happier. It cleans, it picks up the water nicely, it's quiet and it's an inexpensive option. The water container is easy to operate, it sits right down with a tight seal, it's easy to carry. This is a very nicely designed, inexpensive cleaner.
Good cleaner - as long as you don't have dirty carpets!
After three cleanings of two area rugs - I wash them once a month, the nozzles that squirt cleaning solution plugged up. Checking the internet we found that clogged nozzles are a common complaint - and not at all easy to unplug. We called the Bissell company, who put us through some tests (have a screwdriver handy when you call the customer service line!) and recommended we take it to a local repairman. The Bissell- recommended repair person quoted me $89.95 to clean the machine and get it running again. Cleaning and belts are not covered under Bissell's warranty - making the warranty effectively useless.I had had a Bissell with a heater and an upholstery brush that lasted several years. I had hoped that the machine would be more durable without the heater - but I guess not. Now we're in a quandary over what to buy the next time, and I'm depressed over buying a rug cleaner that would only work for three times on two 5x8 area rugs!

You wouldn't believe the gunk it got out of my carpet

Not a professional steam clean, but nice nonetheless

Very good cleaning machine
I purchased my 2x pro heat about 1 month ago. Prior to this I used a low end Bissell which I thought was good, but with one pass on this new cleaner I was impressed.I want everyone to know that I recommend this cleaner, it far surpasses my lower end Bissell and the high end Hoover I borrowed from the neighbor.Reading some of these other reviews I understand the problems with some of the negative reviews. One person writes that the cleaner left all the water on the floor. There is a red filter/flapper on the dirty water resivour. If you get too much foam in the container there is a flap that closes the intake so that the foam does not get sucked in the cleaner. Go dump the dirty water. Then check that red flapper and make sure it is not stuck to the intake. If it is just tap the container and it will flip back down. If it is sticking then you may be using too much cleaner. When you finish up make sure you fill the soap container with...

They combined and improved on the Spot Bot and the Pro-Heat systems.

Cleaverly Converts to Portable
FactorsI had an old Sears/Kenmore carpet cleaner based on a wet/dry vac and it was monstrously heavy and noisy. It did not have rotating brushes, but did remove dirt fairly well. When the water pump broke, I needed something else. The Amazon reviews for the Hoover models are better than any of the Bissells, but upon closer inspection there are a substantial number of Hoover owners who report shearing off the brush plastic drive-shaft after only a few uses. This is a $30 replacement! Consumer Reports (Oct 2010) says that all the larger Hoover and Bisssell cleaners clean equally well, but that Bissell models are somewhat quieter. They also report that Bissell vacuums are more reliable than Hoover (and I suppose carpet cleaners will be similar). Furthermore, Bissell has a 2 year warranty and Hoover has a one year warranty (although in some Amazon reviews, Hoover owners report only a 90 day warranty!). The Bissell Lift-off Deep Cleaner model 27F6 (red) was on sale at Target...

Addressing concerns of reviews
I am a 52 year old widow with 4 grown children, and I've always had at least one dog; now with the kids gone I have 3 small dogs. This is the third carpet cleaner I've purchased over 15 years. The first was a Hoover, and though I thought it worked fine, advances over the years have made big improvements both in the machines' ability to clean, and their design. My second machine was the old version of this machine, which was 5 years old, and still working, but one of the kids borrowed it, and when I stressed the importance of cleaning after use, she went nuts and disassembled the thing to clean it (totally unnesessary), and it came back not working well. Obvious user problem, not the machine's fault. So, I ordered the 9400 Select, which arrived promptly from Amazon, quickly assembled it, and went to work in the bedroom. With 3 dogs, I clean the carpet every 3 months. My dogs are potty trained, but they are dogs, after all, and unlike me they can't remove dirty...
Finally!
I have been through the ringer with carpet cleaners and stain removers. We have a dog that vomits about once a week. Unfortunatley, he does not do this on our wood floor, which comprises most of our house, but rather he prefers to stain our carpet. I think it is the law with him. Anyways, I had no luck with the SpotBot I purchased so I was a little reluctant to try another Bissell Product. I saw the good ratings for the 9400 and figured I would give it a shot. It seems to have everything one could need on a steam cleaner and it even includes Scotchgard Protection. I tried the Bissell on a tough stain that had set in for a couple of months. Nothing could get it out not even the Rug Doctor from the supermarket. At first the Bissell did not totally get it out. So I tried it again with the hottest water I could get and heated the water with the built-in heater. Sure enough it got it out like a charm. I think Chem-Dry will have to find...
I can't believe how clean our carpets are now. . .
I've been wanting to steam clean our carpets in our house for a number of years now. We had them professionally cleaned before moving in (8 1/2 years ago!!). Three kids, a dog, and a cat later have reduced our carpets to what I thought, was their last legs. The carpets are probably 12 years old (they were not new when we moved in, I am guessing here). We have carpeting in our kitchen, our kitchen table rests on the carpet. You can imagine how dirty they look(ed) after years of spilled milk, cereal, wine, ketchup, etc... We had planned on ripping them up and putting in tile or Pergo in the next few years. So this past week our dog gets sick and really puts me over the edge here. I decide to rent one of those "Rug Doctors" at the grocery store. However, I realize that it will take days for me to clean all the carpets and I really don't want to have to shuttle the Rug Doctor back and forth to the grocery store (about 15 - 20 mins away). On a whim, I check...

Do those portable carpet cleaners work good?

Nov 04, 2008 by jamie m | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry

Do those portable BISSELL carpet cleaners from Wal Mart work very good?

I used one once and I didn't like it. You have to refill it with water and chemicals constantly and it doesn't even do a good job. Not worth the money. You'd be better off spending a little more and having a professional do it.

Are Bissell or Hoover carpet cleaners better?

Oct 31, 2008 by Jessi V | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry

They are toys. Don't waste your money. Hire a Rug Doctor from Homebase. Buy commercial carpet detergent from a janitorial supplier (yellow pages), as this will be much cheaper than Rug Doctor chemicals. Jeyes Enhance is the best, and you will need a defoaming

BISSELL's White Sock Test Helps Carpets Come Clean From Hidden Dirt

31.12.69
"BISSELL is committed to educating consumers about the importance of incorporating deep cleaning into routine carpet care," said Truxton Wildes, associate director of deep cleaning marketing for BISSELL. Just as the iconic white glove test instantly detects dust on hard surfaces, BISSELL's White Sock Test exposes the unseen dirt lurking in carpets. BISSELL introduced the White Sock Test in 2011 to address the fact that many Americans don't deep clean their carpets because they mistakenly believe that vacuuming alone will keep them dirt-free. The White Sock test is BISSELL's way of reminding Americans why they should deep clean at least twice a year.

Bissell began offering pet-specific cleaning products in 2005, and then launched its Pawsitively Clean brand in 2009. , now under fourth-generation leadership, segued from a carpet sweeper to vacuums to eliminating pet problems on the rug to making sure pets find a home. Pawsitively Clean products are broken down into three categories: icky messes (with products like “yecch” drool cleaner and “dang. Bissell takes the position with its goofy product names that cleaning up after pets should be fun. hairy situations (pet hair and pet grooming supplies). “There are so many products, and we feel we can help with the cleaning aspect. “Unfortunately a lot of pets are returned to shelters because of behavior issues, having accidents in the house,” Potter said. Instead of simply sucking up nasty substances with its machines, it has also spread goodwill in the area of pet adoption and rescue.

Opinions on carpet steam cleaners: which one's the best?

Source: Pro Steam Cleaner

It extracts about 80% of the water, has a few annoying things like any carpet cleaner, but they’re now putting on stiff, short, grey HARD plastic hoses that want to curl up. Also it’s hard to work on the bottom edges of the chairs near the floor,... There’s a really nice Bissell on sale at Kohl’s too, but many reviews said that when you do furniture, it doens’t extract much water. My Hoover broke, so I went to Kohl’s and got a really nice deal on a Rug Doctor Mighty Pro. Nice machine, except it’s heavy, and it only extracted 25% or LESS of the water out of the mattresses and couch cushions. So, today I go to Kohl’s, and take back the Rug Doctor. I bought a Hoover Max extract. I wouldn’t touch a Shark, and don’t like Oreck anything....

What they do that I love is give me products that I can write a real review about and come up with creative things to say like the Eureka 71B EZ Kleen Hand-Held Vacuum Cleaner Review I usually spend all of my time bashing hand held vacuum cleaners... This will easily be a 1,000 word review, which believe it or not makes me happy… great content for the site, great selling point, and a vacuum cleaner that I can point to for all of my hand held vacuum cleaners from here on out (leading to more... And that’s just what I’ve gotten from looking at the picture… then I get to add a few of my usual complaints about hand held vacuum cleaners and I haven’t even read the “features” list which generally gives me another paragraph to write. This little sucker gives me at least 5 distinct features that separate it from the usual shenanigans of hand held vacuum cleaners....
