[...]I received this unit free of charge because my old unit failed AND because I registered that purchase online at the Frigidaire website.I originally purchased the Frigidaire 50-pint humidifier (Model FDF50S1) in June of 2009 [i.e. the 2009 version of this product] through Amazon.com. The unit worked perfectly for two years then stopped dehumidifying. The unit would power on, one could change the fan speed, but the unit would not dehumidify even though the unit was set to Continuous (CO) and a hyrgrometer showed the basement room to be at 49% humidity.After contacting a local Frigidaire authorized repairer, I learned these units are considered "throwaway" meaning there are no serviceable parts (except the filter). The units are less expensive to replace than repair, so the manufacturer does not sell any replacement parts (except the filter). Works great, unless you want to use continuous draining
I use this in my finished basement, and it does an excellent job of keeping it dry. I used it when it was 98 and humid and it did its job. I had to empty it out about two times a day. When the temperature dropped to the 70s and humidity dropped, I emptied it out about once a day. I can be away from my house a couple days at a time, so I hooked up a hose. Initially, it did not drain out of the hose, but instead continued to drain into the bucket. I took off the rear two wheels so it tips back a bit, now it drains through the hose.If you are considering purchasing this, I would look elsewhere to a product that was designed correctly instead of needing to make an adjustment. If you already purchased this, want to use continuous draining, but do not want to return it, either put some cardboard at the front of the dehumdifier, or take off the rear wheels so it will drain from the hose instead of into the bucket. Does the job
We have used this dehumidifier for over a month to recover from a flooded basement. After removing the standing water, we were left with carpets and padding that were soaked thru, and humidity high enough to cause perspiration if you went down there. The unit was positioned in the TV room and I ran the long vinyl hose to the sink in the laundry room. The controls are easy, set it to pump, then set the desired humidity to --- which essentially means the unit will run continuously. It took perhaps a week+ to drive the humidity below 50% given the extensive carpeting and the padding lying underneath. We did not move furniture or turn up the carpets so dehumidifying maybe took longer than it might of. But once the humidity dropped below 50% it went to 40% in another day and to 30% the day after that. We did not do bucket brigade because all the water was automatically pumped into the laundry sink. After leaving the unit off for a day the humidity in the basement crept back up to...

Works exactly as described
We purchased this unit for our relatively damp basement. The pump was the primary selling point as our last unit was gravity fed and had to be elevated off the ground in order to drain into the laundry tub. We've been running it for over a month with good results and the pump works well.The other reviewer commented on how the unit heated up his/her basement, but this has not been our experience. Drier air simply feels warmer than damp air. I'd recommend this unit to anybody who wants a unit with a pump, otherwise a cheaper model would work just as well.

Feature filled, but loud blower fan
After four good years of service, my old (see my review of this model also) up and unexpectedly died on me. Searching for a replacement, I happened across this unit at a local store in Michigan. A bit larger than I really needed, but the extra capacity will come in handy when it is really humid outside. Works very well saves me about 50 % off air conditioning.
This unit is pretty compact and well made, love the drainage hose.It is quite but not whisper quite.Originally I was going to use in bedroom,however the quite noise did annoy me so I moved it to hallway between bedroom and bath. Now my heat pump does not run continuously,for air conditioning and a dry 75-80 is extremely comfortable even though I have health issues. I am very excited by this buy and big savings. I live in the swamps of the DC metro area,so I am pleased.

Excellent for my need
I put it in my crawlspace because wood floor above was cupping due to excess humidity. I have only had it running a couple of days so can't comment on reliability yet. I got it because of the remote so I can adjust it without having to crawl in there. That is important. However the instructions recommend cleaning the filter every 2 weeks which is inconvenient but important for the life of the machine. Also, the fan runs constantly when on even when the humidity is low but can't be heard upstairs. I have another dehumidifier upstairs which shuts off but it doesn't have a hose drain which the new one does. Other than the fan running constantly it is perfect for my needs.

Does the job
I've had this dehumidifier for about 6 months and it keeps the basement at a constant 50% HR. No problems, but it does run all of the time; that is the fan blows all the time. Drain hose was eazy to attach. So far, works great.

easy to install, works flawlessly
I've been staying with some folks for a while and noticed that they manually emptied their dehumidfier daily. They've been doing it for 8 years!I installed this pump in no time and they'll never have to empty it again!This pump works great. Very basic, but it does the job nicely. It makes very little noise. Turns on / off smoothly and quietly. Pumps for a few seconds to clear out the basin and then goes back to rest until it fills again.The pump does not come with either inbound or outbound tubing / hose, so you will need to buy them separately.Also, I found the instructions a bit skimpy and less clear than they could have been. You just need to read it closely and do a bit of fiddling to get it to work properly.As elsewhere mentioned in these reviews, a key thing is to ensure that the water / condensate source (i.e., the dehumidifier or AC unit) is higher than the Little Giant pump. This allows the water to flow easily...

Exceeds Specs
I have this pump handling my furnace and AC condensation. It's pumping straight up 6 1/2 feet and then propelling the water another 15 feet through flexible tubing in the ceiling before it begins a downward descent through pvc pipe. No problems. It comes on almost every five minutes when the AC is on. So far this pump has been perfectly reliable.
