Terrible, returned immediately
This dehumidifier works, but is so incredibly loud it isn't usable. We purchased two dehumidifiers at the same time: this one, and the . It's absolutely amazing how different they are. We let both run all day while we were at work, and they both did a great job at collecting water. However, the Frigidaire is so loud we can't use it *at all* when we're home. No exaggeration. I turned it on in our bedroom, closed the door, then walked clear across the house to our dining room and could still hear it loud and clear. If I'm standing next to it while it's on, I can't hear a word my wife is saying. I have no idea how anyone can live with this in their home. We're returning it asap and getting a second Soleus. Why did I not get it sooner!
I love this dehumidifier! Both my wife and I moved to a new apartment in Pacifica, CA literally across the street from the beach. We normally leave our windows open so it vents a bit of fresh air but the problem is that humidity enters as well with the sea breeze. It got really damp in our apartment and so bad that I felt it every time I got in the blankets. I shopped around and found this dehumidifier online and thought it would be very helpful. When it came, no joke, it was like christmas. I tore it open with a twinkle in my eye and laughed with joy when I pulled it out. I read the instruction manual to make sure I didn't ruin anything and it was a simple 3-6 step process. I set it up in no time and plugged it in to the wall to see what this bad boy can do. Within 12 hours, this 25 Pint dehumidifier was full. It kept getting full for the next 4 days and now it is nice and dry in our 1 bedroom apartment. I really love it! I gave it a five star because of its awesomeness...

Small dehumidifier
I searched reviews online for several days before buying this dehumidifier. I live in an extremely high humidity area, especially in the winter time. (lots of rain) and I am allergic to mold, So really needed a humidifier that can continue to run in colder temps. I am not disappointed. I call this a "moisture sucking dynamo". Like other reviewers, I have to mention that it isnt quiet. While it doesn't vibrate, it does blow air out of the top that is very similar to a box fan on high. So, that may deter some people, but not me, I like the 'white noise'. This is very effective at removing humidity. The drain bucket is easy to remove and replace, and has a convenient handle to carry it to the sink for dumping. It has 4 wheels for easy mobility, but the unit is not heavy at all, so picking it up to carry to another room is pretty easy. Fantastic!
I needed a dehumidifier for my asthma. Humidity combined with a basement apartment and I was a wreck. I'm an obssessive researcher, so I reserched dehumidifiers for days. I decided on this one because of the great allergy/asthma ratings, customer and consumer reviews, functions and energy requirements. Even though I have only had it for about a month now, I can definately say that it is great. It brought the humidity level in my 2000 sq ft apartment from 73% to 45% in about 4hrs and has kept it there. I have small temp/humidity monitors located around my apartment to make sure that the dehumidifier is really keeping up the pace. It is and it is very quiet! The only down side is the heat that it gives off. I know that dehumidifiers do give off heat but I didn't realize that I was going to have rearange some furniture in order to keep it far enough away from my bed, couch and desk to be comfortable temerature wise. This thing really works!
We ran this in our bedroom that was smelling musty & wet, and I gotta say this thing really sucks the moisture right out of the air! The water bucket was half full after running it for 8 hours, and it lowered the humidity level in our bedroom 10 points in at time. Very efficient machine!

Dehumidifies
This if my first experience with a dehumidifier. The rapid dry just wasn't cutting it in the new apartment/new city. I use this to reduce the humidity in a 700+ square foot apartment from the 60's to the 40's. It works. The handle rattles slightly so making it as quiet as it can be took a tiny bit of effort. The water collection bin needs to be emptied once every day or two depending on how long it runs and the humidity. It's too loud to have in the same room to watch tv - but does an okay job keeping the apartment under 50% just running it during the day while we're at work. Turning the humidity dial down doesn't decrease the noise level. Wish I didn't need to use one.

Good but not great
Like so many things I purchase through Amazon, this dehumidifier arrived promptly!Thanks Amazon. This dehumidifier is used primarily in my bedroom and has helped in reducing the musty moldy smell that has been a constant problem since buying this house four years ago. However it has not worked as I expected or hoped. Even when I have run it constantly it only reduces the humidity level to fifty-eight percent. When a dry air mass moves into the area and I open the windows the humidity level drops to forty percent. The water bin makes an annoying vibrating noise when it is running and stops when touched but then resumes. Also I don't like the fact that my bedroom becomes way overheated when the dehumidifier is run for any length of time. I would have to say this Frigidaire dehumidifier is better than nothing but has not lived up to my expectations or full needs.

Great dehumidifier
We have an unusual house with our bedrooms and bathrooms in the basement. Neither of the bathrooms have windows so we keep a dehumidifier in each one. This dehumidifier is so much quieter and runs less while keeping the humidity down. If I could I would replace the other one in a heartbeat. Another plus is that it also doesn't heat up the room as much as our other one did/does. One last thing is that it is more compact and takes up way less space than our older one.

Works Fine But Some Improvements Needed
I wanted to buy a dehumidifier for my bed room as it gets humid when it rains outside, feeling damp cold. This seems to be the smallest and thinning one on the market. After running it for all day, the tank became a half full of clear water. So, it is working fine. It has an automatic internal switch between running fan and dehumidifier probably depending on moist in the air. When a fan turned to a dehumidifier, it makes noise loud enough to wake me up. So, I cannot run this while sleeping unfortunately. Also, the device heats up quickly and air becomes warm. So, it works better in the winter. It consumes 190 watt while dehumidifying, but I am certain it is less when only a fan is working.

Running Non-stop For Almost 4 Months - Works Great!
We placed this in a 320' circular dome in our yard. It has tile flooring installed directly on concrete. After the tremendous rains this season, our whole yard became saturated and we started noticing condensation on the flooring and walls in that room. We started running this unit in early January, 24/7 (well, nearly), and it's still running today. We do turn it off for a few hours while we are out there, due to the noise. It's not bad, but I find it's too loud for prolonged exposure. I'm hoping eventually we'll be able to turn it off for longer periods, but for now, it's working wonders in there. Several times the auto-stop has kicked on because it was full and needed to be emptied so I'm glad that feature works as advertised. It's very easy to dump the water and reinsert the collection bucket. It's amazing how much moisture this has collected ... guessing up to 5 gallons/mo. Our electricity usage and bill has gone up, but it's hard to tell just what it is...

Works great!
I installed this unit in my basement about 8 months ago, and it has been working flawlessly ever since. Things I noticed: If the power goes out, the unit will NOT turn back on automatically (as some other units do.) If you want to use the continuous drainage (which I highly recommend) via a hose, you have to punch out a plastic disc on the side of the unit. I would have designed a screw-type plug that was replacable, but they didn't think of that. Anyway, once you punch the quarter-size disc out it's out forever. If you choose to use the continuous drainage feature, you will need to pick up a hose with an inner diameter of 15mm (.59" or just over half an inch.) I went to the local DIY center and found some clear tubing that has worked well. The unit can operate down to 2-degrees C (36-degrees F), which will be great for continuous operation in the garage to keep the tools from rusting. Has three fan...

Works well
I purchased this dehumidifier for mainly basement use, but wanted one quiet enough for use upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. My refrigerator is louder. I also own a Fedders 45 pint unit and a Whirlpool 65 pint noise maker. The Fedders (Maytag) was the quiet champ untill I purchased the Soleus Air CFM-40E. The Whirlpool removes an amazing amount of water, but can be heard UPSTAIRS when running in the basement. So it is used only when needed. The Soleus Air is so quiet I have to go down the basement stairs and visually check to see if the unit is on. Can't say that for many dehumidifiers. My only complaint is that the fan is always on, even when it has reached the set humidity level. This prevents the short cycling the others do, on for 2 minutes off for 2 minutes or so, but I think prevents an Energy Star certification. At 2.9 amps it draws significantly less than the Fedders 5.6 amps and the Whirlpool's 7.9 amps. The Soleus Air works great (so...

Excellent balance of efficiency and effectiveness
I currently have 5 dehumidifiers in different locations, and this one is the strikes the best balance of efficiency, reliability, effectiveness, and quietness. There are other models that can pull more moisture out of the air more quickly, but they are invariably much louder and MUCH more expensive to run.
