Little Giant condensation pump VCM-20ULS
I got this Little Giant pump to mount with a new Frigidaire Dehumidifier for the cellar. It is not really wet just gets musty without the dehumidifier running. It can fill the 2 gallon bucket in about a day and a half. Mounted both on a board, just to keep thing tidy and so they don't get moved around. It has worked very well and I don't have to empty the bucket any more. The old Dehumidifier (10 year old Maytag) would not stop when the bucket was full sometimes and would dump a load of water on the floor. Major pain. This has so far solved the problem and the bucket runs dry all the time. This pump sends the water up and out via the washing machine drain, a lift of about 7 feet. Duty cycle is around once hourly and it runs almost silent and for a very short time - less the 20 seconds. I would recommend it to anyone. The dehumidifier we picked to replace the Maytag is a Frigidaire FAD704DUD 70 Pt. Dehumidifier,...

Bulky and noisy, and then it simply died
I bought this model for a bedroom and it takes a while to get used to the racket. The fan mode is quiet, but once the compressor kicks in to cool things down it sounds like a locomotive! I would think twice before buying another portable unit like this one, and most certainly would not buy a second "Amana." I need some sleep, and this certainly was not considered when they designed this model a/c. Then finally the thing went haywire! A few months into purchase the temperature setting went to ninety nine degrees on it's own, and the unit died a fairly quick death. The warantee replaced the unit after a few thousand calls for repair, during which I had to deal with "Haier" not the "Amana Company" Talk about things not being what the seem - it is just labeled "Amana" proving "Cheap Trick" is not just the name of a rock band.
great value
This little bad boy is a great buy for the money. It's a little louder than an equal BTU window unit, but it's portability and cooling output is worth a little noise. It is not made for a big room, so I have it in my sons 15' X 25' bedroom and it keeps it ice cold if needed.

bye-bye cold weather condensation...
Easy installation (make sure you've got a 12VDC transformer connection or you'll have to add one.) Cabling and mounting the exterior thermister was simple. I love the fact that I no longer have to manually lower the humidity level when the outside temp plunges. Training was easy...took about a week with two or three minor adjustments. Works flawlessly. No more condensation on the windows...wish I would have invested a long time ago, well worth it.
nice digital readout but needs a 2nd transformer. Not worth the $
my Aprilaire humidifier controller stopped working - cheap pos. I could have bought a $25-30 replacement, or this $80 version that has digital readout and outside temp sensor to adjust indoor humidity to outdoor temp. But the device requires two 120v -> 24v AC transformers - one to run the humidifier when the furnace is on (my old controller was powered by one that was installed when the uni twas installed), the other to power the digital readout 24/7 even when the furnace is off. So add $12-15 to the cost for the transformer. Not worth it!
Saves My Dry, Dry Skin
Works well to boost humidity in the midst of winter to max level without window condensation. Looks attractive. Had professional install.

Hot advice on how to buy an air conditioner

09.06.11
Compare $100 to $400 on average for an air conditioner, versus writing a check for more than $1,000 for central air, especially if central air requires new duct work, said Mark Powers, senior technical editor at This Old House. If buying an air conditioner is on your to-do list, move it to the No. 1 position. com contributed to this list of tips on how to buy, install and maintain an air conditioner. But small air conditioners that fit in a bedroom window are an affordable alternative. Last year's procrastinators are this year's early-bird customers, Thompson said. That location stocked air conditioners in February and March and found eager buyers. If you wait to shop until a heat wave is melting your brain, you might go home with an expensive unit that's all wrong for the room, said Robert Thompson, assistant store manager at Lowe's in Bedford Heights.
