Dyson heats up with Hot bladeless fan
Dyson heats up with Hot bladeless fan Alas, here in New York the temperature is well above 80 degrees, so it's not the best time to test a heater, but it was fun having Hot do battle with Cooley, the air conditioner in our office (no relation to 's Brian Cooley).

Dyson Hot: Central heating killer?
Dyson Hot: Central heating killer? Now, we have the Dyson Hot, which basically pushes hot air through that bladeless fan. There is a thermostat that goes from 32 degrees all the way up to 99 degrees. That's a little bit deceptive because this isn't an air conditioner actually.

LOTS of HEAT and A/C FOR A REALLY LOW PRICE!
I could find no reviews of this machine on the web before I bought it so I will be the first to enlighten you...this is a great deal! I need three of these for my lake house with through the wall A/C and propane heat, but I was wary of the low price - maybe the unit is cheaply made? - so I ordered one at first, plus the factory sleeve (don't scrimp, buy the sleeve). The A/C fits well in the sleeve and it has insulation to keep the sun off your unit and to muffle the noise. The controls are straightforward and the remote is easy to use. No thermometer on the remote, but it is just fine. The unit puts out a lot of air. It replaced a '70 model 8K BTU unit and it blows much more air. The high cfms will help evenly distribute both the cold air and the heated air. The unit isn't quiet, but it isn't that loud unless you have the fan on high. The only noise is the sound of rushing air, so in that respect it is very quiet mechanically...
Soleus through the wall AC & Heat
I needed a through the wall unit for my office. It's about 270 sq. feet of space with 8'ceiling. This unit fit just perfect in the existing spot that the old one was in. It looks great and I hope it lasts as long as the old one (8years). The price was amazing as it was the lowest price of many and has higher btu ratings than the competitors. Thanks,Marvin

Good, versatile appliance for any season
Despite all the negative reviews of this unit on Amazon.com, I found several other positive reviews elsewhere on the internet, and so I decided to give it a try. I'll admit I was skeptical as to how this unit would perform, especially since it seemed to be much less expensive than other 12,000 BTU units AND it included heat pump functionality. That being said, I am quite pleased with its performance so far. After the terrible process of having to return a damaged portable AC unit of another brand just a week earlier, I was relieved to see when this one arrived at my door in rather robust packaging. Lifting it out of its "easy open" outer box and inner cardboard crate, I was able to observe its features in person for the first time. The multi-color display is a nice touch; the bright VFD display provides simple animations of the unit's current function, as well as a basic clock (used for setting the on/off timer), and the current temperature setting. The remote control...
Very disappointed unit
Got this unit today and for some reason the unit itself was covered in grease, something like a motor oil. Anyway, set it up and powered on, after 2 hr running, the unit was blow AIR only even on COLD mode. Called Amazon to get unit return and they told me I will have to pay $60 - $80 return shipping charge for defective unit. I will never buy and electric unit from Amazon again. I never have any problem to get full refund from other online retailer.
Uncool
This air conditioner/heater/dehumidifier is highly overrated by the manufacturer. 12,000 BTU should make your home feel like a refrigerator. It doesn't! It doesn't come close to the air cooling capacity of window units with less than half this rating. The drainage outlet is located way too close to the floor thereby not allowing for a hose to drain properly without elevating the unit. While there is a condensation overflow tank drainage again is an issue. I ran the unit for a solid eight hours at the lowest temperature setting/highest fan speed and the first floor of my small home was only marginally cooler. I was very disappointed as I had hoped this was the answer to both my cooling and heating needs.

good product but needs re-labelling
The product is installed and seems to work fine. I am pleased with its performance so far. BUT, while the online listing shows a weight of 97 lbs. (boxed, I assume) and the manufacturer's packaging shows a product weight of 88 lbs., the materials used have apparently changed. I was so shocked at how light the package was when it arrived that I challenged the vendor and ended up having witnesses present when I unpacked it (just in case). I have not thrown it on a scale but it seems to actually weigh about 50 lbs. As long as it works well, I don't care but be prepared for the surprise. The vendor reports that they have received additional comments on this issue from other customers.

Powerful but noisy
I have a home office in an attic that's sun-baked in the summer and drafty in the winter, and this powerful heater/air conditioner can quickly bring the space to a comfortable temperature year-round. Unfortunately, the unit is quite loud. The AC fan (which runs continuously even when the compressor is off) is so loud I have to turn it off when making a phone call. And the heater (which turns off completely when not in a heating cycle) makes such a jarring noise when it comes on that I jump out of my seat every time. The AC noise wouldn't be a problem if it were further from my desk, but if I had this in a bedroom there's no way I'd be able to sleep with that heater noise. Also, despite the unit being marketed as not needing a water tank or drain for air conditioning, it does occasionally leak water onto the floor. Placing a cookie sheet or an improvised aluminum foil pan underneath is an easy solution, but it took me a while to notice what was happening...
Works great in Tucson...
I usually don't write reviews on products, but this one deserved a good one. We just purchased this for my son's apartment which only has evaporative cooling (worthless in the desert during the monsoon). His place is a loft in an old brick warehouse - poorly insulted, high ceilings. It was easy to install by venting through an old casement window (we used the attachments plus some foamboard and duct tape to seal an irregular opening). We all expected it to be loud but were very pleasantly surprised by how quietly it ran at full fan speed with the compressor on. Within 20 minutes the upstairs of the loft - an area over 600 sq. ft. - was much cooler in the area near the unit and noticebly cooler farther away. I expect it to do very well after running overnight. It's going to be up to 107 degrees and humid this week (humid for us is over 40%) so we'll see how it can deal with the worst that Tucson has to offer. Will update the review later this week (if I remember) but expect...
VERY good experience with A/C aspect of this unit.
I have this model with the AC only.I bought the version of this unit that does NOT have the heating component as the unit, advertised here with the heatpump was not available through Amazon at the time. (not directly through them and covered by the extra Amazon warranty which i wanted as i was nervous).I highly recommend the machines and i am absolutely not paid by the company to say this. I add this as it is very hard deciphering which of the positive ads are genuine and those that at least APPEAR to be paid writers. My main reason for advocating for the machine is i hope the sell a lot and keep making them and can sell enough to keep the price down so i can buy another one when mine gives up the ghost however long that may be. i have no idea how long these things last. i hope they last a long time.)From my standpoint these are great machines...

POOR QUALITY
STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNIT. IT ONLY LAST A YEAR, AND THE SERVICE IS SO BAD. BASICALLY, YOU HAVE TO MAKE HUNDREDS PHONE CALL TO GET PEOPLE COME TO REPAIR YOUR UNIT IF THERE IS SERVICE NEEDED. AND THEY TOOK 2-3 MONTHS TO GET REPAIR DONE.
Good Air Conditioner
I like it. It was easy to install. Effectively cools a 16' x 24' work shop in Southern Mississippi summers. Heats great also. Bought this instead of a central unit or a Japanese split unit. Much better price and just as effective.
rought handling
Upon opening the box to install this unit, we discovered the right front grill was cracked... and a large dent had to be banged out of the left rear side. It works OK.. so far... but with the 'rough handling' it apparently received, who knows

Is it OK to use my air conditioner when the filter for the heater isn't clean?

Jun 06, 2010 by Marina | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

I'm pretty sure I need to clean the filter in my plug-in air conditioner/heater since every time I use my heater lately it's been getting muggy and humid in the room and smells bad. But I don't know how to clean it and I'm only in my place for a short

you can use it to a certain point, and that point is when your evaporator coils (the ones inside the house) start freezing up because little to no air is circulating past them.

Dripping sound coming from either air conditioner/heater or water heater?

Jun 10, 2008 by Blondie | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

If you are hearing water dripping, it is leaking somewhere! And it will only get worse over time. It is not likely the water heater but it could be, but rather the connections to the washing machine or possibly the sir conditioner. You are probably running

All the exercise, fresh air and being happy could be the secret behind it. The cold air at the hilltop is like the fresh air conditioner. The room is rather spacious - each unit comes with three bedrooms, one heater, an attached bathroom, a common living hall complete with tv and a tea set. The journey took us around 2 hours to reach Mesilau Resort Centre around 12 noon and the view is simply breathtaking. I take this opportunity to thank my team mate, Mr. Jason, my team leader, Mr. Ivan Wong ( Mr. Positive man), my kai lui Jacy, Kent ( Mr. St. John Ambulance ) and the rest for making this a wonderful trip. Some part of the journey are so rocky that my legs got stuck in between the gaps of the rocks making it very very painful. I have to use one hand to pull one of the legs up and the other hands holding the stick. Another porter took up heavy gas tank, cartons of eggs and they walked so fast that we met them on the way up and the very next minute saw them going downhill. The last 100 steps to Lapan Rata ( around 11,000 plus feet above sea level) was so difficult and my body is so...
